Subject: Type 94-5 Final Test Completed Tonight - Ready for Dayton !

 Bill -

I successfully completed a final dry run with the Japanese Type 94-5  receiver and transmitter tonight. It is finally ready for Dayton ! See
attached pictures. You will note your handiwork regarding the transmitter  power plug ! I will run the transmitter using batteries and the generator interchangeably. For the net I will use the batteries for increased  reliability. Next transmission will be at 12 noon at the Dayton Hamvention on 3885 KHz. I have done the best I can to make this as foolproof as possible. The transmitter is operating crystal controlled.

The receiver is set to frequency. I'm going to use the signal generator from an MFJ  antenna  analyzer to set the reciever on frequency immediately before the net.

Hopefully it, 4253 and 4254 are my spaces at the hamfest. If you know of anyone who is interested in Japanese radios that will be attending, have them stop by I'll need someone to hold the movie camera as well as for other help. By the way, this exercise would not be possible without the tremendous support you have given me regarding technical information and parts - I really appreciate all you have done for me to make this possible.

 All the best,

Some initial pictures of the Japenese 94-5 Radio operating at the Dayton Hamvention. In addition to myself, Fumio Miyato (note below) cranked the handcrank generator. We made contact with the net on Saturday at noon on 3885 KHz. The NCS gave us a good signal report and indicated that the modulation was excellent. Note also Fumio's comments about the radio. The event was fun and worthwhile. Again, I appreciate all of your help in making it possible.

All the best,
